Braided basket-bowl “isiquabetho”, approx. 38 cm diameter
This pretty “isiquabetho” is elaborately braided from the leaves of the Ilala palm. It is woven in traditional style and boasts an elaborate multi-colored pattern.

Traditionally, the larger of these bowls are used by the Zulu to carry grain. The smaller bowls “isiquabetho” can be used for serving dry foods such as beans, fruits or nuts. As table decoration – or even for storage in the traditional sense of the Zulu – the “isiquabetho” finds its place in Europe, too.
