With tribal patterns in?turquoise, pink?and orange, this tall basket is ideal for keeping logs in but works equally well as a laundry basket, a toy storage basket, or a basket for throws and blankets, towels and bedding. Every hand woven log basket in this new collection is designed by the weaver herself and each one is different.
This large log basket is made from veta vera grass ? also known as ?elephant grass? – a local raw material that?s sustainably sourced and perfect for producing durable basketry. Weaving these large log baskets brings women the opportunity to earn a vital second income, balancing their farming work, childcare and household duties within the supportive and ethical framework of the weaving cooperative.
The cotton calico liners produced to fit our laundry baskets are manufactured by a social enterprise based in East London. These cotton liners are sewn by women facing multiple barriers to employment, being previously unemployed and with no prior work experience. These women have learnt exemplary sewing skills on free training programmes and now work to commission, costed at the London Living Wage. Choose to have your woven laundry basket with or without the liner!

THE LAUNDRY BASKETS.
Bring a splash of colour to laundry days with one of our beautiful, hand woven laundry baskets – all handmade in Kenya. Choose from our colour block sisal baskets with leather carry handles or opt for a sturdy, lidded laundry basket woven from doum palm leaf. Each laundry hamper takes up to six days to weave by hand, and all can be repurposed around the home as log baskets or toy storage, for example. Our sisal laundry baskets are a particularly good size for blankets and throws, slippers and gloves and hats, whilst our lidded doum palm baskets come in three handy sizes, plus a smaller basket in round and oval shapes. Our range of ethically produced laundry baskets offer something practical and beautiful for every household – even the largest family!
